Welcome to the web home of our home, located in fabulous East Toledo, Ohio!

I mean that in the least sarcastic way possible. East Toledo, while actually being a PART of the city of Toledo, seems to be sadly overlooked. A no-man's land filled with architectural delights ripe for the flipping. Come on down! Make sure you have a plumber on speed-dial.

We found this place in December, 2007 while prowling the internet for The Perfect House. Adam and I were both hip to having ourselves one hell of a "This Old House" experience, which greatly expanded our searching parameters into homes in neighborhoods that nobody should even drive though at night.

We took out first look, and decided this creepy, beautiful house was a great place to start our life together. We even got married in the freshly demoed living room. Some happily ever after, huh? It's been an adventure, for sure...

Where History Lives- The Frank Irving Consaul House
By Larry Michaels

The East Side is well known for its “stone houses,” especially in the Spring Grove historic district, but those houses are actually made of pre-cast concrete. An authentic stone house is the Frank Consaul home at 748 Euclid Avenue at Greenwood. Built of fieldstone in 1904, it was for many years the home of Toledo Councilman Frank Consaul, whose original family farm gave its name to Consaul Street in Birmingham. Later owners of the house include William McAllister and Paul Perry.

The four-square design was popular at the turn of the 20th century and features the flat rooflines and dormers of the Frank Lloyd Wright style. The house also has an enclosed stone porch and bow window at the side. Behind the house on Greenwood is an earlier Consaul home of late-Victorian Queen Anne architecture.
